FINANCIAL AID  

The Institute is committed to provide financial aid opportunities to all eligible students. However, the primary responsibility for meeting the cost of education rests with the student and the student’s family. Financial aid is awarded on the basis of need regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, na-tionality, ethnic origin, handicap, marital, parental, or veteran status.

Financial Aid Programs

Financial aid programs are based on current Statutes and Regulations, and are subject to change. When changes to these regulations occur, students are notified and information updated. To continue receiving financial aid, students are required to make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward the com-pletion of their Course of Study. Failure to continue to make SAP may result into the loss of financial aid/or dismissal from the Institute.

Financial Aid Participation

The New York Institute of English And Business is approved by the United States Department of Education to participate in the Federal Title IV Funds. The Institute also participates in the grant program financed by New York State.

Title IV Funds

•  Federal PELL Grant
•  Guaranteed Student Loan (GSL)*

New York State Grant
 
•  Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
 
*The Institute chooses not to participate in the GSL Title IV Funds. A GS Loan is a loan that MUST be repaid by the student. Repay-ment  begins within a certain timeframe the the lending institution sets upon graduation or withdrawal from the program.

 NOTE CAREFULLY. An unpaid loan will have a serious affect on your credit report. There-fore, the New York Institute of English And Business does not burden students with loans. Again, a loan is not necessary to help finance your edu-cation.  

Eligibility Requirements - Federal PELL And TAP Grant

  • Show proof of United States citizen or legal resident.
  • Show proof of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Non-high school applicants may participate in financial aid programs after acquiring a  passing score on an approved Ability-To-Benefit test administered to non-high applicants.
  • Satisfy income requirements.
  • Cannot be in default on a Guaranteed Student Loan guaranteed by New York State Higher Educa-tion Service Corporation (NYSHESC).
  • Cannot owe a refund on a Federal or State grant at any previous schools attended.
  • Attend classes on a regular basis.
  • Carry an overall average of "C" or better after receipt of the first term's disbursement. 

Title IV (PELL) Fund - Additional Information

  • Enrolled full-time in a program of 600 hours minimum..
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by a Need Analysis System approved by the United States Department of Education.
  • Provide required documentation for the Verification Process and determination of dependency status when required.
  • Execute the Statement of Educational Purpose and Registration Compliance.

State TAP Grant - Additional Information

  • Be a legal resident of New York State for 12 months before the start date of the program.
  • Enrolled full-time in a program of 1440 hours minimum.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Has not exceeded 36 TAP payment points as an undergraduate student.
